A website is a brochure. The tool behind it is the business.
The thing that changes your week is usually not on the website at all.
A bloke who supplies commercial kitchens told me his website was fine. It was, mostly. Clean, clear, did the brochure job. But every week he was still doing the same slow thing by hand. A piece of second-hand equipment would come in, and someone would photograph it, measure it, write it up, price it, and post it. An hour a unit, easy. Multiply that across a warehouse.
We did not rebuild his website. We built the thing next to it.
Now he takes one photo on his phone. A minute later he has a written listing, ready to post, with the details filled in. The hour became a minute. That is not a website change. That is a business change.
Here is the point most web people miss.
The site is where you get found. The tool is where you get time back.
A website is a brochure. A good one, sitting in the right place, doing its job. But a brochure does not run your business. The thing that actually changes your week is usually not on the website at all. It is the job that used to take an afternoon and now takes a click.
That job is different for everyone. For the kitchen supplier it was turning a photo into a listing. For someone else it is quotes, or bookings, or chasing invoices, or pulling the same report every Monday. The pattern is the same. There is a slow, repeating task eating your time, and it can usually be handed to software.
Why this is the real work
Anyone can build you a website. Fewer people will look at how you actually spend your day and build the tool that takes the boring part off your plate.
That is the bit we care about. Not just a site that looks good, but the thing bolted to it that quietly does an hour of your work while you get on with the parts only you can do.
If the website is sorted and you are still losing hours to something a machine could do, that is worth a conversation. And if you are not even sure the site itself is being read by Google and the AI assistants, we made a free checker for that. Start there.
Give it a burl.
